Abuja, June 26, 2025. In a key step toward settling the political situation in Rivers State, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara met with suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, in Abuja on Thursday.
According to sources familiar with the subject, the meeting, which took place behind closed doors in Nigeria’s capital, was cordial and marked the first reconciliatory contact between the two leaders since President Bola Tinubu suspended them.
Other members of the State Assembly were also there, and both parties allegedly exchanged pleasantries, jokes, and expressed a desire to engage constructively.
“The suspended Governor is determined to achieve peace. “He has begun the real engagement,” claimed a source familiar with the situation.
