The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is still the only viable option for Nigerians as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration works to build the country for the benefit of its inhabitants.
The Speaker’s statements came after the official defection of many PDP members to the APC in Kaduna State, led by Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The former NEMA DG, along with hundreds of his fans and numerous former PDP leaders in Kaduna State, is believed to have joined the APC.
Abbas welcomed Sani Sidi into the APC, stating that the former NEMA DG’s move was timely and suitable. He emphasized that the ruling party provides a safe harbor for politicians who strive to improve the lives of their citizens.
The Speaker stated on Wednesday that the APC will grow stronger if more members of opposing political groups join the ruling party.
“Today is a day of celebration for every APC member in Kaduna. I can’t recall witnessing members of the opposition band together in the last two years to show support and unity with the APC like they did tonight.

“Myself and Kaduna State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, have been in talks with Sani Sidi for more than three months to see how he can depart the sinking ship. Governor Uba Sani has made enormous efforts to get Sani Sidi aboard.
“I can promise you that Sani Sidi saw President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s and Governor Uba Sani’s developmental achievements and joined the APC as a result. We appreciate that you have accepted our invitation to join APC.
“You have arrived at the correct location. This is a party dedicated to peace and fulfilment. You have become an integral member of our organization. You are in good and dependable hands. We assure you that you will be treated with the respect and advantages that only an APC foundation member is entitled to. “You will not have any reason to regret your decision,” the Speaker stated, addressing the defectors.
In his own remarks at the event, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani hailed Alhaji Sani Sidi as one of the state’s prominent political leaders, whose decision to join the APC was for the good of the state, particularly his people, rather than for personal gain.
“Today, I’m not surprised that he made the proper choice. His decision is based solely on the development of his people, not on selfish motivations. He is content and has enough to sustain himself.
“As the Speaker stated, we held a number of discussions, consultations, and interactions. His primary concentration is on the development of Kaduna State.
