Today, June 21, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be in Abuja at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre for the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES).
According to reports, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, revealed this in a statement.
The 67th Ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is set for Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. The Economic Summit is currently in its second and last day on Saturday.

WAES is the first of its type and was organized by President Tinubu in his role as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government with the goal of strengthening regional economic integration. Improving trade and investment cooperation within the subregion is one of its main priorities.
In order to accelerate West Africa’s integration agenda as a vital basis for long-term peace, security, and prosperity in the region, the presidents of Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, The Gambia, Benin, Togo, and Guinea-Bissau have confirmed their attendance at the Economic Summit.
In addition to representatives from regional economic organizations like the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, the summit is being attended by the ministers of finance, trade, infrastructure, and foreign affairs from the ECOWAS Member States.
Policy experts, development partners, and executives from the private sector are also taking part.
To show his dedication to inclusive discourse and regional collaboration, Tinubu invited Mauritania and the Alliance of Sahelian States’ member states.
The President sent a group of Special Envoys to send official invitations to heads of state and government throughout the region prior to the summit.
The team, which included Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, was led by Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
