After a protracted battle with his brother, Aremu Afolayan, Nigerian director Kunle Afolayan has finally put an end to it.
The two sons of the late, renowned theater and film star Ade Love were said to have argued with one another over the years.
The two’s rivalry gained public notice in 2018 when Aremu asserted that their father, despite his celebrity, lived in poverty.
Kunle responded to Aremu’s comments in a widely shared interview by calling him dumb.
But at the wake-keep ceremony for their mother in Oyo State on Friday, November 22, 2024, the siblings finally put a stop to their disagreement.
Kunle, who was ten years older than Aremu, stated throughout the occasion that he was his father and not his brother.
To all of Aremu’s friends, I would want to clarify that I am his father and not his brother. Even though I’m ten years older than him and I trained him, you, his female buddies, pressure him. But love overcomes all.
“My greatest joy today is that my mother made us talk,” Aremu said in response to Kunle. Because I was the odd one out in the family, she continued to pray. I don’t agree with my brother Kunle; he has no justifications for claiming that we look alike.
I apologize to brother Kunle for enduring the criticism on Instagram. It’s because I cherish you.
