In a recent, emotional interview on the podcast Wasila Coded hosted by actress Bimpe Akintunde, popular Nollywood actress Aunty Ajara opened up about one of the most painful experiences of her life, recounting the tragic story of how she was raped, became pregnant as a result, and lost her baby shortly after birth. Ajara, a beloved figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, revealed that the assault came at the hands of a family friend connected to her uncle.
Speaking openly on the podcast, Ajara recounted the harrowing details, sharing that the man who assaulted her was trusted by her family. According to her, this individual was a close friend of her uncle’s brother-in-law, which made the betrayal of trust even more devastating. The man later admitted to raping her, a confession that compounded the emotional toll she already bore from the experience.
Ajara further described how the trauma extended beyond the assault itself, as she later discovered she was pregnant. Despite the many emotional and physical challenges she faced throughout the pregnancy, she resolved to carry the child to term. However, following a cesarean section (CS) birth, her baby tragically passed away just three days later.
This experience, Ajara explained, left her emotionally scarred and was one of the most painful episodes of her life. Her story has resonated with many, sparking discussions on social media about the challenges survivors of sexual assault face.
