The renowned Highlife master Mike Ejeagha, who was renowned for turning Igbo proverbs and folklore into enthralling music, has passed away.
The “Gwo Gwo Gwo” crooner passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 95, according to reports.
Emma Ejeagha, the musician’s eldest son, informed Vanguard on Friday night that he had passed away.
According to reports, the Nigerian Army-owned 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu is where the musician passed away.
With his distinctive Igbo folk music style that appealed to all age groups, Mike Ejeagha dominated Nigerian radio in the 1980s.
In other developments, 89-year-old Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, passed suddenly.
On Friday, June 6, 2025, his family reportedly released a statement announcing his passing.
As the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) from 1995 to 2006, Uwais, who was born in Zaria, Kaduna State, on June 12, 1936, gained a reputation as a reformer dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the bench and a champion of judicial independence.
