Mia le Roux, the 2024 Miss South Africa winner, has withdrawn from the current Miss Universe pageant.
According to reports, the global competition’s final will be held in Mexico on Saturday, November 16.
In a statement released Friday morning, Miss South Africa organizations announced the development, citing health concerns.
“I have the utmost gratitude for SA’s steadfast support throughout my Miss Universe tenure. Given the aspirations and dreams that have been put on me, this decision has been extremely difficult.
“But I’m incredibly appreciative of the chance to concentrate on my health and recuperation so I can continue to serve my country to the best of my abilities.”
Le Roux, the first deaf competitor, was one of 120 beauty queens competing for the title of Miss Universe.
