A few hours before the competition’s grand finale, Italy Mora, the Miss Universe contender from Panama, was disqualified.
According to reports, the global competition’s final would be held in Mexico on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
According to the New York Post, she was expelled after making an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend Juan Abadia’s hotel room in Mexico, however the formal cause for her dismissal has not been made public.
Italy Mora denied the rumors, claiming that she was dismissed following a violent argument about the poorly organized event with Cesar Anel Rodriguez, the director of Miss Universe Panama.
She said her boyfriend was there when they got into a fight.
She claims that the argument became heated when her boyfriend disclosed that, as a result of the organization’s negligence, he had paid for her expenses, including a $7,000 Carolina Herrera outfit.
Following accusations of an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend’s hotel room by pageant staff, Mora was expelled.
