One year after its launch, the governing board members of the esteemed “The Delborough Lagos” have credited the caliber of the chosen governing board members with the brand’s historic achievements.
The highly visible members who made this revelation in separate interviews with reporters during their second board meeting in Lagos on Friday emphasised that the hotel will continue to live up to its tagline, “Ultimate Sophistication,” in service delivery and redefining hospitality in Africa. They also pointed out that “The Delborough Lagos” was not a one-man operation, which is why they promised to maintain the high standards they set at the commissioning ceremony on Saturday, December 2, 2023.
Under the leadership of a first-class Royal Majesty, the Obi of Onitsha (Agbogidi), Nnaemeka Alfred Uzochukwu Achebe CFIR, mni, the governing board is composed of highly esteemed and respected monarchs, legal authorities, professionals, and business executives.
Among the other distinguished members of the board are His Royal Majesty Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal (Abisogun II, Oniru of Iruland); Prof. Chief Mike A.A. Ozekhome SAN, OFR, FCIArb, PhD; Usman Alkali Baba CFR; Arc. Dns. Yemisi Suswam PhD, FNIA; Mrs. Olajumoke Benson; H.E. Dr. Valentine Ozigbo; Matt Aikhionbare, OON; and Dr. Linus Idahosa.
His Royal Majesty Achebe, the board chairman, proudly stated during the meeting that in the first year of operation, “The Delborough Lagos,” which redefines hospitality and offers luxury services, has hosted over 16 sitting and former African presidents, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Princess Meghan, and other diplomats from around the globe.
The Board chairman told reporters, “The meeting was intended to review the hotel’s business operations and to set targets for future operations.” We want to be the go-to option for hospitality in Nigeria, Africa, and the entire world.
At The Delborough Lagos, the sophisticated, state-of-the-art amenities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent security make all the difference. We want to try something new and surpass the norms of hospitality around the world.
“Within a year, The Delborough had drawn 16 presidents, prime ministers, state governors, lawmakers from all over Africa, international figures, world-renowned figures, business leaders, diplomats, and executives from the UN and AU.”
Speaking about the plan to replicate the brand elsewhere, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, Managing Director of The Delborough Lagos, revealed that the board is taking into consideration the numerous requests given by various African presidents for the luxury brand to be replicated in their respective nations.
While reaffirming that the objective would be actively pursued, he also disclosed that their exclusive concentration is on exporting hospitality to the rest of the world.
“We have successfully redefined the hospitality industry,” stated Prof. Chief Mike A.A. Ozekhome SAN, OFR, FCIArb, who also spoke about The Delborough Lagos brand. Nigeria has become “a go to” destination and a one-stop shop thanks to The Delborough, which is more than just a hotel but also a therapeutic center. If you were previously ill, you will feel better after visiting this place because of the atmosphere, the special attention you receive from the staff, and the hospitality that makes you feel at home away from home.
Nigeria has benefited from it in the eyes of the world. Since we are now in a position to do so, we think we can even export the hospitality sector to other countries.
“Because we have demonstrated the ability of Black men, Nigerians, and young people under the leadership of Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu to accomplish this. We have been able to show that hospitality can be developed locally, as we have done here.
“We invite the world to visit The Delborough, which is why you see presidents from around the globe, prime ministers, monarchs like Prince Harry and Princess Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, diplomats, numerous governors, international figures, and global icons. They all have something positive to say about their experiences here. Thus, in our opinion, The Delborough Lagos is the ideal location.
As for the Delborough brand, Dr. Linus Idahosa stated, “The Delborough is a brand that is heavily focused on the demonstration of excellence in everything that it represents at a time when most often we compromise on quality of service and a number of things that should help us compete with brands internationally.”
“You won’t find a board in this country that is as impressive as the consideration that went into the Delborough Board’s constitution; the consideration that went into the investment in the human capital of the high caliber of employees that you see here; the ability to demonstrate excellence in the service; and the use of technologies to provide personalized services and experiences for all the guests that are coming into this hotel.” This is what has made this brand unique. And since all of these are occurring in a single year, it’s a fitting occasion that merits celebration.
Because of its ability to do so and draw in the kind of individuals it does, presidents, world leaders, international business moguls, and other influential figures have made this venue their first choice while visiting the nation. This indicates that everything you observe here is the result of a determined effort to redefine hospitality, not only in Africa but globally as well.
