Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, a former presidential candidate and LP leader, has charged Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, with causing the party’s problem.
He said in a statement on Thursday that the former governor of Anambra was blaming everyone but himself.
In relation to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), he claimed that Obi did not create it but instead left it after reaping the benefits of the party’s success.
The leader of the LP maintained that the party’s crisis was solely Peter Obi’s fault.
All the dubious transactions of the party, he said, were carried out to further Obi’s political aspirations.
In part, the statement says, “I have noticed a lot of remarks and recordings in which Mr. Peter Obi keeps blaming everyone but himself for the growing problem inside the Labour Party. It appears that Obi is blaming everyone but himself, from the present president to the party leadership and even outside forces.
“This is deceptive and frustrating. That a man who takes pride in his ability, competence, and output—the fundamental tenets of the Labour Party—is now a representation of disarray, misunderstanding, and poor performance is absurd.
“I recently saw a video in which he blamed the party’s problems on the president. He laid the blame on the party leadership in another. It’s a never-ending blame game.
“Let’s be honest: Mr. Peter Obi alone is to blame for the Labour Party’s decline.
Upon Obi’s arrival in 2022, the Labour Party was unified. It was a tidy residence. Since his arrival, however, the entire party has been rocked by crises. The center was unable to hold.
“This split had a significant role in our general election defeat in 2023. You can’t have a house divided against itself.
“How is it that a man who says he wants to lead a complicated country like Nigeria is incapable of leading even a simple political party?
I implore all Obi supporters to consider this: How would Peter Obi handle interstate conflicts, economic restructuring, security unrest, and national reconciliation if he is unable to handle difficulties at the party level?

The platform that provided Obi with his first opportunity, APGA, was not created by him. Instead of growing it into a national party, as Awolowo did with UPN or Nnamdi Azikiwe did with NCNC, he abandoned it. Contrast that with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who transformed a local party into the political force that currently controls Nigeria.
“Obi looked for the simplest route rather than the one that calls for genuine leadership and sacrifice, so instead of bolstering APGA, he fled to the PDP for another political meal and then to the Labour Party for a third portion.”
Instead of going back to rebuild the Labour Party and bring resentful members together after the 2023 elections, he further distanced himself from Barr. Julius Abure, the guy he utilized throughout the campaign. He remembers that he was the one who entered a pristine house and ruined it, but now that the party is in ruins, he blames Abure for the filth.
Let me be clear: Obi’s political ambitions were the reason behind the dubious transactions that are currently being investigated, even though I do not like Julius Abure. Leadership demands commitment, accountability, and the will to lead, particularly during challenging circumstances.
