Interview with Moshood O. Badmus on the Re-election Bid of Hon. Age Wale Rauf and APC’s Chances in the Forthcoming General Elections

Interviewer: There have been increasing conversations surrounding the re-election of Honorable Age Wale Rauf for a third term in Amuwo Odofin Constituency II. What is your perspective on this?
M.O.B:
The re-election of Honorable Age Wale Rauf for a third term is genuinely a blessing for the people of Amuwo Odofin Constituency II. Politics, especially legislative governance, requires experience, strategic relationships, and institutional understanding. When you study the political evolution of Lagos State and Nigeria at large, you will realize that lawmakers who spend quality time in office often become more effective in attracting developmental projects and delivering the dividends of democracy to their people.
Particularly in this case, Honorable Age Wale Rauf has performed extremely well. His representation is visible in the facilitation of critical road repairs such as Old Ojo Road, Mumuni Adio Badmus Road, and Navy Town Road, among others. These developmental strides necessitated his endorsement by critical stakeholders, including the Apex Leadership and our revered Royal Fathers.
Interviewer: Some people believe leadership should constantly change. Why do you think continuity is important in this case?
M.O.B:
Continuity in governance is extremely important. Experience matters significantly in politics. A perfect example is Femi Gbajabiamila. He served multiple terms in the House of Representatives before eventually emerging as Speaker. It was during that period that Surulere witnessed remarkable transformation, strategic development, and stronger federal presence.
The stories of Mudashiru Obasa in Agege, James Faleke in Ikeja Federal Constituency, and Honorable Jimmy Benson are also evidence of such advantages.
That clearly shows that seniority and experience within the legislative system can position a representative for higher responsibilities capable of bringing greater benefits to the constituency, particularly when the legislator is already performing effectively.
Interviewer: Are you suggesting Honorable Age Wale Rauf should be positioned for a higher office within the Assembly?
M.O.B:
Absolutely. I strongly believe Amuwo Odofin Constituency II should strategically position Honorable Age Wale Rauf for the Speakership of the Lagos State House of Assembly in the future. Such a position would undoubtedly attract more development, visibility, and opportunities to our constituency.
Leadership is not built overnight; it requires consistency, loyalty, political maturity, and legislative experience. Supporting him now is an investment in the future prosperity of our people.
Interviewer: Looking at the political climate in Nigeria today, what are the chances of the APC in the forthcoming general elections?
M.O.B:
From my personal assessment, the chances of the All Progressives Congress remain very strong ahead of the forthcoming general elections. Despite the economic realities and criticisms from opposition parties, APC still maintains one of the strongest grassroots political structures across Nigeria, particularly in Lagos State.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to enjoy strategic support from major party stakeholders and governors across the federation, while the opposition appears largely fragmented and divided at the moment. Recent political developments have also shown increasing endorsements for the President and the APC leadership ahead of 2027.
The opposition may also turn blind eyes to the developmental strides of this administration, specifically the NELFUND programme and the Coastal Roads projects, both of which possess the potential to accelerate economic growth and strengthen a human-capital-driven economy.
In Lagos State especially, the APC remains deeply rooted with an established political structure that has consistently delivered electoral victories over the years. Several party stakeholders have openly expressed confidence that the party will secure another sweeping victory in the next elections.
However, elections are ultimately decided by the people, and the party must continue engaging the grassroots, delivering good governance, and sustaining the trust of Nigerians.
Interviewer: Critics often point to imperfections in political leadership. What would you say to constituents who may have reservations?
M.O.B:
No human being is perfect. Leadership itself is a continuous learning process. What is important is to look at the broader vision and long-term benefits for the constituency.
For the sake of a more prosperous and progressive Amuwo Odofin Constituency II, we must remain united, forgiving where necessary, and focused on collective growth rather than personal sentiments.
Interviewer: Finally, what is your message to the people of the constituency?
M.O.B:
My message is simple: this is the time for massive mobilization and unity. We must consolidate on the achievements already recorded and continue supporting the ideals of renewed hope that are gradually translating into fulfilled promises.
Honorable Age Wale Rauf remains our best choice for continuity, effective representation, and greater opportunities for Amuwo Odofin Constituency II.
