2027: ADC appoints Liyel Imoke to head presidential primary committees

Ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primary, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named former governors Liyel Imoke of Cross River State and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State to head its presidential primary committees.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made this claim on Monday.

Abdulfatah Ahmed will lead the Presidential Election Committee, while Senator Imoke will chair the Presidential Screening Committee, according to the announcement.

Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Hon. Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu, Col. Abubakar Ali Ciroma, and Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum, who serves as the committee’s secretary, are among the other members.

Prof. Yisa Gana is the secretary of the Presidential Election Committee, which is composed of Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo, Dr. Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr. Macaulay Iyare, Tajudeen Bakare, Elder Ubolo Itodo Okpanachi, Zainab Buba Galadima, Uzoamaka Onyeama, and Maj.-Gen. Muhammad Inuwa Idris.

Additionally, the party established a Presidential Appeals Committee, which was led by Dr. Suleiman Usman, SAN, with Barr as its secretary. There will be a member, Dare Okerade.

The ADC created two screening panels for the governorship primary. S.E. Aruwa, SAN, is in charge of the first panel, while Femi Olawuyi, Esq. serves as secretary. Ibrahim Mohammed Wali, Akilu Indabawa, Lauretta Onochie, Chief Dr. Vivian E. Ugochukwu, and Professor Rabiu Bello are among the other members.

Barr. Justina Abanida is the chair of the second governorship screening panel, while Hon. Chille Igbawua is the secretary. Additional members include Navy Capt. Aliyu Ngolmo, Joseph Ephraim Enemali, Hassan Mohammed Ibrahim, H.E. Gerrard Irona, and Sen. Yisa Braimoh.

Additionally, two Governorship Appeal Committees were approved by the party. P.I. Oyewole Esq. is the chair of the first committee, which also includes Adah Usman as a member and Abdulhakeen Taiye Ibrahim as secretary. The second appeal committee is led by M.E. Sheriff, Esq., with Barr. Hassan Yakubu serving as a member and Barr. Realwan Okpanachi serving as secretary.

According to the ADC, the committees were meticulously assembled to guarantee openness, legitimacy, equity, and internal democracy during the party’s primaries.
