PRESS RELEASE
RE: ATTEMPTS TO DISCREDIT THE APC PRIMARIES IN AMUWO ODOFIN FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
The attention of the Media Directorate of the MO Campaign has been drawn to several commentaries and publications making rounds in respect of the recently concluded APC primaries in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored such narratives, knowing fully well that post-election emotions often give rise to dissatisfaction from certain quarters. However, it has become necessary to set the records straight and prevent deliberate distortions capable of misleading party faithfuls and the general public.
It is important to state unequivocally that the APC primaries were conducted within the framework of the party’s democratic processes and under the supervision of duly constituted party officials and stakeholders. The exercise reflected the collective participation of members across the wards, culminating in the emergence of Moses Olarewaju as the preferred choice of the majority.
Curiously, those who once rejected the consensus arrangement and insisted on the conduct of primaries are today the same individuals attempting to delegitimize the very process they demanded simply because the outcome did not favor their interests. Such contradiction clearly exposes the position being advanced as nothing more than the reaction of sore losers struggling to come to terms with political reality.
The allegations concerning accreditation and participation of non-members remain speculative, exaggerated, and unsupported by credible evidence. In every political contest, there are established constitutional channels for addressing grievances. Resorting to media propaganda, intellectual dramatization, and inflammatory rhetoric cannot invalidate the genuine will expressed by party members during the exercise.
The overwhelming turnout witnessed during the primaries was a reflection of the popularity, acceptability, and grassroots connection of Moses Olarewaju across the constituency. Attempts to mischievously portray such massive participation as evidence of irregularity only reveal desperation by individuals still bitter over their inability to secure victory at the polls.
Democracy demands maturity, discipline, and respect for collective decisions. It is therefore imperative for all party members to place the unity and stability of the APC above personal ambitions and political disappointments.
The APC in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency must now move forward in unity and focus on consolidating its strength ahead of future electoral engagements rather than dissipating energy on baseless allegations designed solely to undermine the integrity of the process.
