The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suspended a serving member of the House of Representatives, a local government vice chairman and six other party officials over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was announced by the APC State Executive Committee which said it was to protect party discipline and internal unity.
Those suspended are Ibrahim Usman Auyo, representing Auyo, Kafin Hausa and Hadejia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Also affected are the Vice Chairman of Auyo Local Government, Ibrahim Ayama, the party’s Deputy State Women Leader, Aisha Adamu Auyo, and five other officials.
The party said the affected members were involved in activities that were considered harmful to the unity, stability and progress of APC in a statement jointly signed by the APC State Chairman, Ahmed Garba.
The allegations are related to events that allegedly took place in Auyo Local Government Area on May 26, 2026, according to the statement.
If proven, the actions could amount to violations of the party’s constitution, including acts of disloyalty and anti-party conduct, the party said.
The APC said the suspension was effective immediately and would remain in force pending the outcome of an investigation by the party’s State Disciplinary Committee.
The members concerned will not be entitled to represent the party in any capacity or to participate in any official party activity during the period of suspension.
The APC assured that all affected members would be given opportunity to defend themselves as enshrined in the party’s constitution and principles of natural justice.
