The All Progressives Congress, APC, Osun State chapter has challenged the Ademola Adeleke-led administration to present evidence of claims that security drones purchased by the last administration have gone missing.

“The opposition party said that five drones bought during the administration of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola could not be traced and should be backed by official documents, which is not true.

The controversy trailed a statement by the governor’s spokesperson Olawale Rasheed who disclosed that the Adeleke administration was unable to trace five security drones allegedly paid for by the previous administration.

He said the government was also looking at procuring new drones to boost security operations across the state.

Kola Olabisi, the APC spokesperson in Osun, in reacting to the allegation, said the party dismissed the claims and urged residents not to be misled by what it described as inaccurate information.

Olabisi said “the Adeleke administration should be concentrating on the security challenges that are currently bedeviling the state rather than blaming its difficulties on decisions that were allegedly taken by a previous government.

He asserted that the immediate past governor, Oyetola did not buy any drone within his four years in office and dared the state government to come out with documentary evidence if any such purchase was made.

“The public should discountenance this Governor Adeleke’s blatant lie about the purchase of the drones by former Governor Oyetola being peddled by him in order to misinform the unsuspecting members of the public to score a cheap political point,” Olabisi said.

The APC spokesman condemned the governor’s handling of the matter, saying that there is no need to keep referring to the previous administration after more than three years in office.

“We believed that the embattled Governor Adeleke would stop running his administration with lies and subterfuge towards the tail end of his administration which is winding up in November this year, but unfolding events have shown that it is pretty impossible for a leopard to change its colour,” he added.

Olabisi also called on residents to hold the present administration responsible for providing security in the state. He added that the government in power has a responsibility to provide security for lives and property.
