The Agbo Major-led faction of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) said the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, is the greatest enemy of Nigeria’s democracy.
Major made the allegation during a News Central Television interview Friday, responding to questions.
He said the original target of the NNPP was legislative leadership before the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso started the presidential contest.
Earlier, the faction had called for the resignation of Amupitan over alleged non-compliance with court judgments on the party’s leadership dispute.
“The biggest enemy of our democracy is the INEC chairman himself. As I said at the press conference, we are a law abiding political party.
“We are not going to take the law into our hands, but what we have resolved to do is to shift it to the judiciary which has made its pronouncements.
“They have taken their stand on what they expect INEC to do. “So, we have also moved INEC to the court of the public, so that Nigerians will know that the biggest enemy of our democracy is the INEC Chairman himself,” Major said.
