Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the violence that broke out in Osun State.
The singer took to his social media page to criticize the political atmosphere in the state and accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of engaging in extreme political activities that he said are causing fear and insecurity among residents, it was reported.
In his post, he questioned the increasing tension and the impact of political rivalry on human lives, adding that he does not believe such actions will help the APC win the coming election.
He also condemned what he called intimidation and fear being spread in public spaces during the campaign period.
He wrote: “APC OSUN All these will not win that August 15th governorship election for AMUBO your candidate sha. How many people need to die from you guys style of extreme politicking? E wa n terrorize awon eyan kiri igboro 💔 MCHEWWW LESSONS WILL BE LEARNED.”
His reaction followed the shooting incident that occurred in Osogbo and its environs, throwing residents, traders and commuters into panic.
Gunfire echoed through crowded areas amid the political activity, sending people running for cover, witnesses said.
Governor Ademola Adeleke also reacted to the incident, accusing supporters of the APC governorship camp of the violence.
He urged President Bola Tinubu and the nation’s top security agencies, including the police and DSS, to intervene and restore normalcy to the state.
The APC Campaign Council denied responsibility and instead accused rival political groups of launching attacks on its supporters and campaign materials.
The party also demanded a full probe into the incident.
Security agencies have started investigations into the shootings, while patrols have been stepped up in the affected areas to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
With the Osun governorship election coming up on August 15, 2026, political tension in the state keeps heightening as parties intensify campaigns.
