The United States announced the closure of offices in Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the US Mission Nigeria in a notice on Friday.
The closure is due to the June 12, Democracy Day holiday.
“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Friday, June 12, 2026, in observance of the Democracy Day holiday”, the U.S. Nigeria Mission said.
The Nigerian government had declared Friday as a public holiday.
In his democracy day message on Friday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said Nigerians should not stop believing in the country despite her challenges.
