The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, AMEN, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has opened up on his past relationship with the former Anambra State governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, saying he risked a lot to support him during his impeachment ordeal.
Mbaka said this on Friday during a church programme while answering criticisms from some supporters of Obi.
The cleric said he was instrumental behind the scenes when Obi was impeached as governor of Anambra State, saying many of those who now publicly support the former governor were absent in that period.
Mbaka said he was not a problem to Obi and queried claims that he failed to support him.
The cleric also named a number of individuals who he said were witnesses to events surrounding Obi’s impeachment, including Chris Uba and Cletus Ibeto.
Mbaka argued that his actions were driven by his desire to serve his people, emphasizing that he considers himself “a solution, not a problem.”
Mbaka’s words: “Listen, when Peter Obi was impeached as a governor, Peter Obi is still alive, all the midnight movement made to gather the documents to bring him back, father Mbaka!
How did I not help myself? He doesn’t see me as a problem. If he comes to bazaar and doesn’t want to do anything, is it a problem?
“All these people crying Obi, Obi… can’t do one out of hundred of what I did for Peter Obi.
“The risk I took for him when he was impeached as a governor, 99.9 per cent of those following him abandoned him.
“If the corpse starts smelling, we will know who loved the deceased when he was alive.
“Go and ask Chris Uba (Eselu), he is alive. Ibeto is alive. I won’t mention them all but let me just mention a few that were in the inner room where things happened.
“People will be just talking mouth, talking what they don’t know. I mean a lot for my people.” I love my people.” I’m a solution, not a problem.”
