The former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has arrived at the Federal High Court in the state capital for the continuation of his ongoing corruption trial.

El-Rufai was accompanied to the court by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Police Force.

The case relates to allegations of abuse of office, fraud and financial misconduct during his tenure as governor.

The prosecutors said funds were wrongfully released for projects that were not carried out or were run irregularly.

El-Rufai meanwhile has denied all the charges and maintains his innocence.

The case will continue before the court on Monday with both prosecution and defence expected to make motions and arguments.
