Bauchi Central Senator Abdul Ningi has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to speed up the prosecution and parade of the culprits behind the kidnap of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
Ningi made the demand during plenary on Wednesday, it was reported.
He warned that any delay in prosecuting the suspects could damage public trust in the justice system.
He said the perpetrators should be brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.
What is important going forward now is to take a cue.” Now we have people arrested, they must be paraded, prosecuted and the full course of the law taken.
“Delayed prosecution will create yet another impression that there is something wrong. So I am calling on the security agency to prosecute them, to parade them and make them an example,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ningi, has called on the Nigerian government to take action against the Xenophobic attacks on Nigerian citizens.
The lawmaker called on the Nigerian government to cut diplomatic ties with South Africa forthwith.
Ningi was reported to have made the call on Tuesday during plenary at the Senate.
His call came amid a spate of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa

Ningi lamented that the South African government only cautioned their people despite the evacuation of more than 1200 Nigerians
“Break all diplomatic relations with South Africa. Nigerians have been killed left, right and centre. There has never been any action other than mouth condemnation.
“This xenophobic attack is not done by mouth, but physically. Imagine, someone in his own house and place of business without any notice and then mobs start to chase that man, killed and burned him.
“As we are talking today, over 1200 Nigerians are already evacuating. And what did the government do? Prudency. Caution what?
“Do Nigerians not deserve to live in other countries? Are they to be killed in that manner , even if they are criminal ? And that is why countries like the United States are different. “That’s why you could see the relationship between the United States’ citizens and their country,” the Bauchi senator said.
