Imo Governor Says Tinubu Is on Course for Re-election

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold economic reforms and expressed confidence that the administration will perform creditably enough to secure a second term in 2027.

Uzodimma spoke during a state dinner at the Government House, Owerri, to mark the end of the three-day inspection of landmark federal and state projects by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Communications Team in Imo State.

Governor Hope Uzodimma compared President Bola Tinubu to Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, saying the Nigerian leader entered office ready to tackle the country’s economic challenges through bold and far-reaching reforms, marking what he called a new phase in Nigeria’s development.

‘The old order is gone and there is a new order now. President Tinubu came with a very clear purpose. “He knew the job in front of him and he got on with implementing the reforms right away,” he said.

Drawing a biblical analogy, Uzodimma likened Nigeria’s pre-reform economic situation to the bondage of the Israelites in Egypt, saying just as God delivered the Israelites through difficult circumstances, the President’s bold decisions were necessary to free Nigeria from years of economic stagnation.

He admitted that the reforms would cause some pain in the short run, but insisted that they were already delivering positive results, notably in terms of increased revenues available to states for infrastructure and human capital development.

Governor said the ongoing transformation in Imo State is a direct product of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

All that we are doing in Imo today is made possible by the Renewed Hope Agenda. “We are working for sustainable development; we are investing in infrastructure, health, education and technology because the reforms have created the enabling environment for development,” he said.

Uzodimma said he was confident that the policies of the administration would continue to manifest and Nigerians would give President Tinubu a second term in office in 2027.

Mr. Dare said that the projects inspected were a demonstration of the practical implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, through robust collaboration between the Federal and Imo State Governments.
