Interviewer: Alaga360News Media Team
Guest: Hon. Oluwole Eric Abiodun Emmanuel
Subject: Leadership, Representation, Youth Empowerment and the Future of Ondo East/West Federal Constituency.
QUESTION 1: Sir, can you introduce yourself to our readers and tell us what inspires your interest in public service?
ANSWER:
I am Hon. Oluwole Eric Abiodun Emmanuel. I believe that public service is a responsibility and an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to society.
My interest in public service is driven by my desire to see a constituency where ordinary citizens have access to opportunities, young people can fulfil their dreams, women are economically empowered, and our communities receive the attention they deserve.
I believe that leadership must be measured by its impact on people’s lives, not merely by political titles.
QUESTION 2: Why do you believe Ondo East and Ondo West deserve a new direction in federal representation?
ANSWER:
Ondo East and Ondo West are communities with enormous human, economic, agricultural, commercial and cultural potential.
Our people deserve representation that understands their challenges, listens to their concerns and consistently takes their interests to the national stage.
We need a representative who sees the constituency as one family, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, social status or background.
The time has come to strengthen the relationship between our people and the institutions of government.
QUESTION 3: What would be your major legislative priorities if given the opportunity to represent the constituency?
ANSWER:
My priorities would revolve around five fundamental areas:
1. Youth Empowerment: Creating opportunities for skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, vocational training and employment.
2. Education: Advocating improved educational facilities, scholarships, learning resources and opportunities for our students.
3. Healthcare: Supporting improved primary healthcare delivery and advocating better medical facilities for our communities.
4. Infrastructure: Pushing for improved roads, electricity, water supply and other essential infrastructure.
5. Economic Development: Promoting agriculture, small businesses, local industries and investment opportunities.
I believe federal representation must go beyond making speeches in Abuja. It must translate into tangible benefits for the people at home.
QUESTION 4: Youth unemployment remains a major concern. What practical solutions would you propose?
ANSWER:
Our young people are not lazy. They are talented, creative and full of potential. What many of them lack are opportunities, access to resources and the right support systems.
I would advocate structured empowerment programmes, vocational training, business development support, access to grants and partnerships with private-sector organisations.
My vision is to move our young people from dependency to productivity and from unemployment to entrepreneurship.
QUESTION 5: What is your position on women’s participation in politics and economic development?
ANSWER:
Women are indispensable to the development of every society.
Our market women, professionals, entrepreneurs, farmers and mothers contribute enormously to our economy and community stability.
We must create more opportunities for women through economic empowerment, access to business support, political inclusion and leadership development.
A constituency that empowers its women is investing in the future of its families and communities.
QUESTION 6: How would you address the infrastructure challenges confronting Ondo East and Ondo West?
ANSWER:
Infrastructure is fundamental to economic growth.
Poor roads, inadequate electricity and limited access to essential public facilities affect businesses, education, healthcare and the general standard of living.
My approach would be to identify priority projects through consultation with traditional institutions, community leaders, youth organisations, professionals and residents.
I would pursue effective legislative advocacy, engage relevant federal agencies and ensure that the developmental needs of our constituency receive sustained attention.
QUESTION 7: How do you intend to maintain contact with your constituents after election?
ANSWER:
Representation must never become distant from the people.
I believe in an open-door approach to leadership. I would encourage regular constituency engagements, town hall meetings, accessible communication channels and periodic reports on legislative activities.
Our people must know what their representative is doing, what has been achieved, what challenges exist and what remains to be done.
Accountability is not optional; it is an obligation.
QUESTION 8: Politics in Nigeria is often characterised by division and personal interests. What is your philosophy of leadership?
ANSWER:
My philosophy is simple: people first.
Political differences should never destroy our collective interest or prevent us from working together for development.
I believe in inclusive leadership, respect for democratic institutions, transparency, accountability and equal opportunities.
I want to see a constituency where political participation is driven by ideas, competence, character and the desire to serve.
QUESTION 9: What message do you have for traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders across Ondo East and West?
ANSWER:
I want to appreciate our traditional rulers, community leaders, religious institutions, market associations, youth organisations, women groups and all stakeholders who continue to contribute to the development of our communities.
Our future depends on our collective commitment to progress.
We must put aside unnecessary divisions and build a stronger partnership for development.
Every community matters. Every individual deserves to be heard. Every generation deserves a better future.
QUESTION 10: Finally, why should the people of Ondo East and Ondo West believe in Hon. Oluwole Eric Abiodun Emmanuel?
ANSWER:
The people should believe in a vision that places their welfare above personal interests.
I understand that leadership comes with enormous responsibility. It requires listening, sacrifice, commitment, accessibility and the courage to stand for what is right.
I am presenting a vision of representation that prioritises human development, economic opportunities, infrastructure, education, healthcare and inclusive governance.
I believe Ondo East and Ondo West deserve a stronger voice, purposeful representation and a future filled with possibilities.
Together, we can build a constituency where our children have greater opportunities, our businesses prosper, our communities develop and our people enjoy the dividends of democracy.
My message is simple: The future of Ondo East and Ondo West must be built with the people, for the people and by the collective determination of the people.
