According to some Nigerians, Ali Ndume, the legislator for Borno South, begged the Senate to permit the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s widow to succeed him as the representative of the Anambra South Senatorial District.
Ndume reportedly contended that it is essential to uphold Ubah’s legacy and goals via his family.
During the Tuesday Valedictory session in honor of the late senator, Ndume made the appeal.
Ndume contended, citing historical precedents, that this action would guarantee continuity in representing his district and honor the late senator’s contributions to the Senate.
Ndume was criticized by Nigerians for his proposal, raising concerns about whether political positions are inherited or belong to the family.
