Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad, said the rift between her and her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, started before her husband’s death.
She told Channels Television that the problems started after the birth of her son, Liam.
“Yeah, we were best of friends. So I think we fell out, I think it was after I had my child,” she added.
She said that arguments over the naming ceremony for Liam and other unresolved family issues grew worse over time.
“It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues, and because my husband forgave his mother. It was just a family feud that turned into something very big.
“Everyone online seems to think it’s all about my husband’s downfall. But in actual fact it is on account of the family feud that we had before the demise of my husband,” she said.
The late singer’s widow further claimed that just after Mohbad’s death, her father-in-law centered conversations on the singer’s properties and royalties.
“I literally picked up the phone and called him because I was tense and scared. He wasn’t telling me what I needed to hear. He was just talking about my husband’s property and all that,” she said
She also alleged that Joseph Aloba wants the DNA outcome to disprove Liam’s paternity.
What he really wants will never happen. He actually wants my child to be DNA negative,” she said.
Omowunmi added that the situation has reached the point where reconciliation may no longer be possible.
“It has really come to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore,” she said.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances.
His death prompted nationwide outrage, protests and a series of investigations, including court cases, autopsy reviews and continuing disputes over the paternity of his son, Liam.
