Some musicians have lent their voice to the call for the rescue of the pupils, students and teachers abducted by gunmen from Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School and L.A Primary School (Esiele), all in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on May 15, 2026.
It was reported 39 students and seven teachers abducted and two teachers killed, bringing a national outrage.
Singer, Victony reacted and demanded that President Bola Tinubu should address the insecurity in the country and rescue all kidnap victims, especially children.
He took to his X handle and wrote “Save our children & Put an end to this mess @officialABAT”
Similarly, Davido said he is deeply saddened by the incident and the ongoing sufferings of the victims in captivity.
“We cannot allow the present insecurity to go on,” he said.
Sharing his reaction to the report of the victims’ continued ordeals in the abduction camp on his Snapchat page, the singer wrote, “I’m weak. God, please take over. We can’t go on like this… my heart goes out to the victims and family .. this is messed up”
On his part Timaya released a statement calling on the Presidency to take urgent steps to tackle the rising insecurity in the country.
“The Government is called upon to show even greater urgency, collaboration, and action to respond to the growing security challenges in many parts of our country,” the statement read in part.
