Peller Granted Bail In N500,000 After Arraignment Over Alleged Police Threats

A Lagos Magistrate Court has granted ₦500,000 bail to TikTok creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and his associate, Bello Oladipo, who were arraigned over allegations of obstructing police officers during an operation.

According to the report, the court granted the duo bail after pleading not guilty to the charges filed against them by the Lagos State Police Command.

They were asked to provide two sureties, one of whom should be a blood relative.

The court also ordered them to submit their tax clearance documents covering two years before the bail conditions could be completed.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to 11th August for further hearing.

The charges against Peller and Oladipo, according to Linda Ikeji, came after an incident on July 2 along Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, where police officers allegedly stopped the TikTok star over a vehicle allegedly being driven without number plates.

Peller reportedly told the officers that the vehicle was just bought but the officers insisted that he should follow them to the station.

The situation later became tense when the content creator started recording the encounter with his phone.

The TikTok personality later accused the officers of aggression during the incident, but the police command denied the allegations and charged him and his associate.

The pair are accused of resisting police officers, preventing officers from performing their duties and acting in a way that could lead to a breach of the peace.
