‘Don’t settle for men simply because they chose you’ – Damilola Adegbite tells single ladies

Actress Damilola Adegbite has shared relationship advice with single women, urging them to carefully evaluate potential partners instead of accepting proposals simply because they have been chosen by a man.

The actress made the comments during a recent episode of her podcast posted on YouTube.

According to Adegbite, some women make relationship decisions based on the fact that a man has expressed interest in them, even when they have not considered whether the person is compatible with them.

She urged women to reverse that approach and make their own assessment before committing.

“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you,” Adegbite said.

She explained that age should not be the most important factor in determining whether someone is suitable for marriage.

Whether a man is younger, older or the same age, she said, the focus should be on whether both people can genuinely love and support each other while building a life together.

“At the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner,” she said.

Adegbite also offered advice to older women who may receive romantic attention from younger men.

She urged such women not to mistake attention for compatibility or accept a relationship simply because it makes them feel desirable.

“To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don’t make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable,” she said.

Instead, she advised women to examine whether the man is respectful, emotionally mature and capable of providing support and security.

She also highlighted the importance of considering children and existing family responsibilities.

According to her, an older woman should only consider a younger partner if he respects her children, understands her life and knows what he wants.

“Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you,” she added.

Adegbite’s advice encourages women to approach relationships as a mutual partnership rather than viewing marriage as an achievement that must be accepted whenever an interested man comes along.
