I Lost 2023 Election, It Broke My Heart – Banky W Opens Up On Painful Experience

Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has opened up about the emotional pain he experienced after losing the 2023 general election and how the setback influenced his decision to embrace pastoral ministry.

The entertainer disclosed this while celebrating his first anniversary as a pastor, describing the election experience as a defining moment that prompted him to seek a deeper understanding of his purpose.

Banky W contested for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but was unsuccessful.

Reflecting on the outcome, he said the defeat left him heartbroken despite the lessons he gained from participating in the political process.

Following the election, the singer said he began questioning which direction his life should take. He considered whether to concentrate on politics, entertainment, entrepreneurship or ministry.

According to him, he took his concerns to God and sought guidance on the next phase of his journey.

Banky W explained that he eventually realised he did not have to abandon his existing professional pursuits to serve in ministry.

He said his initial assumption that he needed to choose between his different interests changed when he understood that they could coexist as part of his broader calling.

The entertainer noted that he would continue working as a musician, filmmaker and entrepreneur while fulfilling his responsibilities as a pastor and professor.

He described the development as an expansion of his assignment, rather than a departure from the careers he had already established.

Reflecting on his first year in pastoral ministry, Banky W said the election outcome had not followed his expectations, but his subsequent experiences helped him appreciate a different direction for his life.

He also shared a message of hope, noting that what appears to be the conclusion of one chapter can sometimes introduce another.

The singer expressed gratitude for his journey and invited his followers to celebrate his first pastoral anniversary with him.

His account highlights the emotional challenges that followed his political ambition and the role his faith played in shaping his next steps.
