Jide Kosoko defends Tinubu, says hardship exaggerated

Veteran Nigerian actor Jide Kosoko has questioned claims that Nigerians are experiencing widespread hunger under President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the situation is not as bad as some people suggest.

Kosoko spoke during an interview with actress Biola Bayo, where he defended the President’s administration while acknowledging the economic challenges facing the country.

The actor suggested that public assessments of the economy should take into account the conditions before Tinubu assumed office.

“Things aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. I am hungry; check most of those people. Before Tinubu came, what were they eating?” he said.

Kosoko, however, clarified that he was not suggesting that the country’s economic situation was satisfactory.

According to him, Nigeria faces several problems that the President inherited and is attempting to address through his administration’s policies.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying things are rosy; there are too many issues at hand which Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now fixing,” he added.

The actor also encouraged students benefiting from government initiatives to share their experiences and acknowledge the policies they consider helpful.

He argued that some of Tinubu’s political opponents were allowing personal ambition to influence their positions on the President’s performance.

Kosoko said he believed the administration was heading in the right direction, despite the challenges that remain.

His comments have contributed to the ongoing conversation about economic conditions, government reforms and competing assessments of Tinubu’s leadership as Nigerians continue to debate the impact of his policies.
