‘Men Always Make Excuses For Their Stupid Behaviours — Uche Ogbodo

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has advised women to recognise emotional and psychological abuse in relationships, stressing that mistreatment does not have to involve physical violence before it becomes harmful.

The actress shared her views in an interview with Saturday Beats, where she discussed marital fairness, infidelity and the importance of self-worth.

Ogbodo explained that emotional abuse can occur when a partner consistently undermines a woman’s confidence, makes her feel worthless or compares her unfavourably with another romantic partner.

“Abuse is not only physical. There’s mental and psychological abuse. When you start to make a woman feel less of herself, you are abusing her mentally and psychologically,” she said.

She added that women should understand their personal values and recognise when a relationship is damaging their emotional well-being.

According to the actress, self-love and self-awareness are essential in helping women identify unacceptable behaviour and decide when it is time to leave an unhealthy relationship.

Ogbodo also criticised men who make excuses for infidelity, arguing that both partners should demonstrate equal commitment to their marriage.

“I am an advocate for 50-50 in marriage. If you want me to be faithful to you, stay faithful to me,” she stated.

She maintained that sexual desires should not be used to justify cheating, insisting that individuals must take responsibility for their actions.

The actress urged women not to remain in unhappy relationships simply because of societal expectations or the fear of starting over.

“I am not an advocate for suffering and smiling. If it is not working, you don’t have to die there,” she added.

Ogbodo acknowledged that some men understand the importance of discipline and respect in marriage.

Her message emphasises the need to recognise unhealthy relationship dynamics, establish boundaries and prioritise emotional safety and personal dignity.
