Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre by a Federal High Court in Lagos pending the hearing of her bail application in a case involving four criminal charges.
Ogala was brought before the court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to all counts. The charges relate to the alleged publication of personal materials without consent, spreading false information, cyberbullying and attempted extortion.
The case was filed by Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry. Earlier proceedings had been stalled twice because the actress did not appear in court.
During the hearing, prosecuting counsel Tolulope Mokolu asked for Ogala to be remanded, explaining that he needed time to review her bail application and respond to it.
Her lawyer, N. C. Atulomah, opposed the request and asked the court to release her on bail. He said Ogala was a governorship candidate of a political party in Abia State and assured the judge that she would attend the next hearing.

Justice Akintayo Aluko held that the defence had not supplied sufficient grounds to justify her immediate release. He nevertheless directed that the bail application be heard on an accelerated basis.
The court adjourned the matter until October 30.
Tension arose during the session when Ogala attempted to address the judge despite efforts by her lawyer and others to calm her. She alleged that government power was being used against her and claimed her boyfriend was involved.
The judge eventually ended proceedings after the situation became uncontrollable.
Ogala later took to Instagram, where she accused Jerry Eze, Suleman Johnson, Chris Okafor and Abia State Governor Alex Otti of playing roles in her remand. She alleged that they feared she would disclose secrets about them.
The accusations were made in her social media post and have not been established by the court. Attention now turns to the October 30 hearing, when the court is expected to consider her bail application.
