Biodun Collins Ogundipe, the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) nominee for governor of Ogun State, has accused Nigerians of voting inept politicians to the position.

He cautioned that the nation’s developmental issues are caused by inadequate governmental leadership.

He reportedly said this on Monday during a media conference in Abeokuta.

He counseled Nigerians to put ability, capacity, and character ahead of party loyalty, money politics, and ethnic feelings and to stop choosing dullards to be their governors.

He maintained that voters frequently choose candidates who lack vision, expertise, and the ability to lead, which is why many states are underdeveloped.

In advance of the 2027 elections, he urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to carefully consider candidates and cast their ballots for leaders who have a proven track record and clear development plans.

“Forget about all these guys who will come and campaign to you and say don’t worry, when you get on that day you grab it, run away, and steal it,” he declared. They are no longer with us.

“You should have no business in the twenty-first century voting for someone or people who cannot demonstrate their track record in the private sector or even in their own business if they continue to use such campaign slogans and do not explain how they hope to improve your life, the lives of your children, and the lives of future generations.”

They will say, “I run a business, sir. Come and show us how you have turned over that business so we can know that we are entrusting you with this state’s resources and allocation.” We can’t even confirm the track records of individuals.

He claimed that since governance is about people, the state administration doesn’t give a damn about the people at the grassroots level.

Ogundipe further contended that efficient police in the twenty-first century is fueled by intelligence gathering, prediction, prevention, and quick response, and that modern security management extends beyond the deployment of armed people and weaponry.

“There must be a plan; ask them about their model for the state. No, securing lives is not about purchasing amoured tanks, nor is security about carrying firearms to pursue criminals after the crime has been committed. As you can see, you elect dullards as governors.

“They spend billions on patrol cars and armored tanks when artificial intelligence-driven solutions can solve it,” he continued.
