INTERVIEW
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS SPEAKS WITH ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA, AN APC CHIEFTAIN, ON WHY THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS DESERVES THE SUPPORT OF THE PEOPLE OF AMUWO ODOFIN FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: There is growing political conversation ahead of the elections. In your opinion, why should the people of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency continue to support the All Progressives Congress (APC)?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: The answer is simple. The APC has built a track record that speaks for itself. Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, comprising Amuwo Odofin Local Government and Oriade LCDA, has witnessed remarkable transformation since the beginning of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
When we reflect on where we were and compare it with where we are today, fairness demands that we acknowledge the contributions of the progressive political family—from the Alliance for Democracy (AD), to the Action Congress (AC), the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and now the All Progressives Congress (APC). The level of development achieved over the years deserves recognition.

ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: Critics often argue that governments should be judged by their performance. Looking back over the years, what achievements stand out for you?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: I believe the progress is evident across virtually every sector that directly affects the lives of our people. We have witnessed improvements in road infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, vocational training, rural development, youth empowerment, community engagement, and market development. These are not mere political slogans; they are visible projects and policies that residents experience every day.
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: Let’s begin with infrastructure. How would you assess the APC’s performance in road development within the constituency?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Anyone who lived in Amuwo Odofin in 1999 understands the difference. Many of our roads were practically impassable.
Take the Festac Link Bridge, for example. It was once a narrow single-lane road. Today, it has become a dual carriageway extending towards Second Rainbow, making transportation easier and safer.
The Apple Junction–Ago Palace–Cele Road also tells an important story. It was once in terrible condition and had become notorious for armed robbery attacks. Many commuters, especially women, suffered criminal attacks along that corridor. The situation became so serious that an Armoured Personnel Carrier was deployed around the Mopol Junction axis, where security presence remains to this day.
The progressive administration responded by reconstructing and dualising the road. We also witnessed the construction of the Second Rainbow Bridge, which has significantly reduced traffic congestion around Mile 2.
Today, the ongoing reconstruction of roads around Second Avenue and Seventh Avenue further demonstrates the Lagos State APC administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure within our constituency.
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: What about security?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Security has improved considerably under successive progressive administrations. While no society can claim absolute perfection, Amuwo Odofin has become one of the safer local government areas in Lagos State through continuous collaboration between government, security agencies, and community stakeholders.
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: Education has always been one of the major campaign issues. How do you rate the APC’s performance?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Education remains one of the strongest legacies of progressive governance in Lagos State. From AD to AC, ACN, and now APC, governments have consistently invested in free education, payment of WAEC and NECO examination fees for eligible students, improved school infrastructure, classroom renovation, and better learning environments.
Those investments have helped thousands of families and created better educational opportunities for our children.
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: Healthcare is another area residents often discuss. What is your assessment?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Healthcare has also received significant attention. The Mother and Child Centre and the Mini General Hospital on 41 Road, Festac Town, are practical examples of investments that have improved access to quality healthcare services for residents within the constituency.

ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: What has the APC done regarding skills acquisition and youth empowerment?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Successive APC administrations have recognised that sustainable development requires empowering young people. Vocational training centres, including those around Abule Ado, have equipped many youths with practical skills.
Beyond skills acquisition, various empowerment initiatives and collaborations with local government have created opportunities for entrepreneurship. Many young people have become employers of labour through revenue franchise opportunities and other empowerment programmes.
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: Some people believe the APC has promoted inclusive governance. Do you agree?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Absolutely. One of the defining characteristics of progressive governance in Amuwo Odofin has been inclusiveness.
Government has consistently carried along all ethnic groups, religions, and genders. Members of the Igbo, Hausa, and South-South communities have actively participated in governance.
In particular, I can confidently state that members of the Igbo community have continuously served in the Executive Council of Amuwo Odofin Local Government since 1999. That demonstrates a genuine commitment to inclusion and equal participation.

ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: The opposition has consistently argued that it deserves an opportunity to govern. How do you respond to that?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Democracy thrives on competition, and every political party has the constitutional right to seek the mandate of the people. However, seeking power must be backed by a demonstrable record of service.
In Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, the APC has a visible scorecard spanning more than two decades. Our roads have improved, investments have been made in education and healthcare, youth empowerment programmes have expanded, security has improved, and governance has become more inclusive.
When I compare the APC’s developmental footprint in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency with that of the opposition, the difference is overwhelming. Comparing the APC’s performance with theirs is like comparing sleep and death.
Those who seek to replace the APC should first present their own scorecard in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency. Beyond political rhetoric, what projects have they initiated? Which communities have they transformed? What measurable impact have they made on the lives of our people?
The electorate deserves facts, not merely promises. They deserve performance, not propaganda. Elections should be won on the strength of verifiable achievements.
ÀLÁGÀ360 NEWS: Finally, what message would you like to leave with the people of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency?
ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU MCIA: Every administration has areas where improvements can be made, but leadership should always be judged by its overall record.
When we honestly compare Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency in 1999 with the Amuwo Odofin of today, the difference is undeniable. Our roads are better, our schools have improved, healthcare has expanded, security has strengthened, and opportunities for young people have increased.
The APC has not merely made promises; it has delivered visible and measurable development over the years. That is why I believe the party has earned the confidence and continued support of the people.
As we approach another election, I urge the good people of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency to judge every political party by its record, not its rhetoric. On the evidence available, I am convinced that the All Progressives Congress remains the party best positioned to consolidate on the gains already achieved and deliver even greater development for our communities.
