Residents of Illushi in Esan South East Local Government, Edo State have cried out for help to relocate to safer place following the overflowing River Niger bank.
They said more than three-quarter of the community had been submerged into River Niger, noting that they listened to forecast that this year’s flood would be severe.
Traditional ruler of the community, Christopher Ike Ikebodi, in an interview called on both the federal and state governments to provide a safe place for residents to relocate when flood water rises.
“We can’t help ourselves. We depend on government as we were told flood will take over everyplace.
