Nwanyanwu Challenges Tinubu Ahead of Crucial 2027 Presidential Election

Dan Nwanyanwu, the National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and supporters of President Bola Tinubu are plotting to rig the 2027 election.

Nwanyanwu made the allegation during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, it was reported.

He said that the opposition would fight hard against the ruling party in the elections.

He also rejected claims that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election has already been decided.

“I think they mean to write results. We are ready. We will give them pen and paper to write the results. We are not going anywhere, we are staying in this country. It’s going to be a competitive election. It’s not complete,” said Nwanyanwu.

His remarks come as political activity has ramped up with the approach of the general election of 2027, with major political parties stepping up preparations and making alliances.

He warned Tinubu against what he termed overzealous political manoeuvres by some of the President’s supporters which he said could harm the public image of the Nigerian leader ahead of the 2027 general election.

Nwanyanwu observed that some persons claiming to be supporting the President are doing things that are alienating the people and reducing the support for Tinubu.

“I believe President Tinubu should be careful of some people that claim to be his supporters. “People are turned off by his over-enthusiasm,” he said.

The presidential aspirant said some of Tinubu’s supporters are jeopardizing his chances for re-election by turning their back from Nigerians who previously supported him.

“I am not in a position to advise him because I am also vying for that position but this situation is making him quite unpopular,” he said.

“There are also people who initially supported Tinubu because of his leadership, but who have since withdrawn their support because of the company he keeps.”
