ALAGA360 INTERVIEW SESSION WITH OLAMIDE SUBAIR
Convener, Concerned Progressive Youths, Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency
Interviewer (Alaga360):
There have been several reactions following the APC House of Representatives primary in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency. What is the position of your group regarding the outcome?
Olamide Subair:
Our position is very clear and unambiguous. The election was free, fair, transparent, and the outcome reflected the genuine will of APC members and stakeholders across the constituency. Moses Olarewaju emerged victorious through a democratic process, and the original result sheets signed by agents and the APC local elections committee clearly confirmed that mandate.
Interviewer:
Some persons are still disputing the result. What is your response to that?
Olamide Subair:
We strongly appeal to everyone to put the interest of the party first. Democracy is about majority choice, and in this case, the people spoke loudly through their votes. Any attempt to distort or undermine that clear mandate amounts to an attempt to subvert the will of the masses, and that is dangerous for party unity.
Interviewer:
You mentioned the Apex Leadership consensus. Do you think the process justified that decision?
Olamide Subair:
Absolutely. What the primary election proved is that the Apex Leadership was in touch with the grassroots. The overwhelming support Moses Olarewaju received across the wards clearly demonstrated that the consensus arrangement was not imposed but was actually aligned with the popular choice of party faithfuls and constituents.
Interviewer:
There are fears that the situation could create tension within the constituency. What is your appeal to the APC leadership?
Olamide Subair:
Our passionate appeal to the Lagos State APC leadership is simple: protect the integrity of the democratic process and do not allow the people’s mandate to be tampered with. Amuwo Odofin is too important politically to be dragged into avoidable crisis because of personal interests.
Interviewer:
Your group also referenced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in your statement. Why?
Olamide Subair:
Because Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency remains strongly loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and committed to supporting his re-election for a second term. The APC must remain united and focused ahead of the general elections. Anything capable of causing internal crisis only benefits opposition parties.
Interviewer:
You also mentioned Hon. Ramota in your statement. What exactly is your message to her?
Olamide Subair:
Politics should be guided by maturity, courage, and sportsmanship. We respectfully urge Hon. Ramota to accept the outcome in good faith and congratulate Moses Olarewaju on his well-deserved victory. That singular act will further strengthen party unity and demonstrate leadership.
Interviewer:
Finally, what message do you have for APC members and supporters in the constituency?
Olamide Subair:
We urge everyone to remain calm, united, and focused. Victory belongs to the party collectively, and this is the time to close ranks and work together for the continued progress of APC in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency and Lagos State at large
