Sanusi Reaffirms Commitment to a Safer Amuwo Odofin at Security Summit
The Mayor of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Hon. Prince Lanre Sanusi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a more secure, peaceful and safer environment for residents across the Local Government.
The Mayor made the commitment at the Amuwo Odofin Security Summit, organised by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, which brought together an impressive gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, community leaders, religious bodies, security stakeholders and other critical stakeholders within the Local Government.
In his welcome address, the Council Mayor appreciated the people of Amuwo Odofin for their impressive turnout and particularly commended the Kabiyesis and traditional institution for their support and strong presence at the summit.
He noted that the participation of stakeholders from different sectors demonstrated the collective determination of the people to confront security challenges and build a safer and more peaceful community.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, in his address, gave a detailed account of the activities and responsibilities of the Police Force, while emphasising that community collaboration remains critical to achieving sustainable security.
He stressed the importance of cooperation between residents and security agencies, particularly through timely information sharing, intelligence gathering and stronger community engagement.
Traditional Institution in Full Force
The summit witnessed an impressive gathering of traditional rulers from across Amuwo Odofin.
Among those in attendance was Oba Mobadenle Oyekan of Ilado, Chairman of the Amuwo Odofin Council of Obas and Traditional Chiefs, alongside the Onilado of Ilado Kingdom, Oba Ofori of Ibeshe, and other distinguished Obas and traditional leaders.
Their presence further underscored the important role of the traditional institution in maintaining peace, resolving community concerns and supporting security initiatives at the grassroots.

Several prominent community leaders also graced the occasion.
They included Akinwale Thomas Owoseni, President of the Association of Festac Extension Residents; Mr. Mufutau Ayilara, President of Mile 2 Jakande Estate; and Dr. Innocent Kokobili, Chairman of Festac Town Residents Association, Community 2, among other notable stakeholders.
Their participation reflected the broad-based nature of the summit and the growing recognition that security cannot be left exclusively to government and law enforcement agencies.

The political dimension of the gathering was also noticeable, with Moses Olarewaju and Folorunso Ola Western attracting considerable attention through their visible engagement and impressive posture.
Both political candidates demonstrated what many described as a clear readiness to serve and provide purposeful representation to the people of Amuwo Odofin.
Their presence at the summit further reinforced the emerging emphasis on leadership that is accessible, responsive and prepared to work with community stakeholders to address issues affecting residents.
Religious Bodies Join the Security Conversation
Religious institutions were also fully represented at the summit.
Representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) were present, alongside the Chief Imam General of Festac Town Muslim Community, demonstrating the importance of interfaith collaboration in promoting peace, tolerance and community security.
