According to reports, armed terrorists in Niger State’s Borgu Local Government Area have threatened to assault some towns if they don’t buy food and other necessities.
The armed group apparently emerged from the Kainji National Park and invaded four communities: Dakara, Gbenji Gidazana, Kpeya/Biyan, and Giragbasso/Imile.
According to reports, the terrorists gave community leaders a total of ₦12 million so they could buy the desired goods.
Dakara village and Gbenji Gidazana village each earned ₦3.8 million under the agreement, while Giragbasso/Imile and Kpeya/Biyan villages each received ₦2.3 million.
Bags of rice, sugar, salt, cartons of pasta and spaghetti, gallons of palm oil, cooking oil, Maggi spice, and powdered milk are just a few of the goods that the armed organization demands.
In some of the impacted communities, a military response was apparently triggered by a community leader alerting security personnel.
Motorcycles thought to be part of the armed group were found during the raid, and some of the attackers were apparently neutralized.
Authorities have not yet formally confirmed the occurrence, though, as the Niger State Police Command declined to react right now.
