‘They Want To Kill Me’ — Alleged Fake Presidential Council Boss Raises Alarm

The man accused of forging government appointment letters and falsely parading himself as the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and Presidential Economic Advisory Council, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has denied the allegations against him, saying the Presidency wants to silence him.

Adeyemi, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES from an undisclosed location on Thursday, insisted he had done nothing wrong and described the government’s move as a “defence mechanism.”

“You know the sort of government we have. They are just playing a defence mechanism to shut me up”. My organisation was established in 2024,” he said.

Adeyemi would not say where he was, saying he had gone underground because his life was in danger.

“They’re after my life now. I’ve disappeared. “I’m underground,” he said.

Asked if he had left the country, he would not directly answer.

“I cannot say anything now. “I don’t think I’m safe,” he said.

The embattled suspect also declined to provide his alleged appointment letter or any document to back up his claim that he was legitimately appointed, saying his lawyers had advised him not to discuss the matter publicly.

“I just decided to talk to you out of respect. “My lawyers are working on something.” Whatever they say I will let you know,” he said.

Adeyemi has been accused by the Presidency of forging appointment letters and other official documents while falsely presenting himself as Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, agencies it insists do not exist.

Adeyemi and two others have been charged before the Federal High Court on an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, impersonation and related offences, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said.

Concerns first arose when the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission said another body seemed to be carrying out functions similar to its statutory responsibilities, the Presidency said.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, later petitioned the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force, alleging that forged appointment letters bearing fake signatures, official seals and reference numbers had been used to create the impression that the suspects were presidential appointees.

The Presidency said investigations revealed that Adeyemi and his associates allegedly operated from an office inside the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja, held meetings with Nigerian and foreign officials and sought diplomatic support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for visa applications.

Police arrested Adeyemi on October 27, 2025, and searches conducted at his office and residence allegedly yielded forged government documents, according to the Presidency.

Investigators also claimed that financial intelligence had uncovered 34 bank accounts linked to Adeyemi, including accounts allegedly opened in the names of purported government agencies.

The Presidency also alleged that Adeyemi submitted forged documents to open an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria in the name of the alleged agency, but investigators found that no public funds were paid into the account.

Onanuga also debunked claims that Gbajabiamila demanded money from Adeyemi, stating that the allegations came out only after the suspect was given police bail.

The case is expected to come up at the Federal High Court on July 27.
