Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, Nasarawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for 2027, has called for calm and unity in the party.
He was also reported to have called on former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar to return to the APC. He made the appeal during a thank-you visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House in Lafia after he emerged as the party’s flag bearer.
The visit brought together APC leaders, government officials and supporters from different parts of the state. Governor Sule received the delegation and described the moment as a moment of pride for the party, restating his support for the candidacy of Wadada and expressing his confidence in his chances ahead of the 2027 election.
Sule also talked about the need for peace within the party after the primary election.
He called on members to refrain from antagonism against opponents and to keep calm and respectful relations with each other, noting that all those vying for positions in the state are still members of the same political family.
He also assured him that he would give Wadada space to lead without interference except where necessary.
Wadada, while speaking on the political development, remembered how he accepted defeat in a past primary and still worked for the success of the party.
He leveraged on that to appeal to Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, who also contested the APC primary, to come back and support the party’s mission in Nasarawa State, instead of being outside it.
“Those who are contesting against us are not our enemies. They too believe in Nasarawa State. Let us approach them with caution not with hatred. Let us love them.”
“I conceded to a defeat in 2018 to 2019 and not only conceded but submitted myself to the party and government which culminated in me spearheading the campaign council that gave us our proud engineer Abdullahi Sule.
I say to him: ‘Learn from me. When and if he does that he is not doing it for Wadada but doing it for Nasarawa State,” he said.
