WHY I AM HOSTING THE “ONE AMUWO GOSPEL FESTIVAL” — MOSES OLAREWAJU

“Beyond Politics, We Must Build a People United by Faith, Love and Hope.”

For Hon. Moses Olarewaju, the decision to host the One Amuwo Gospel Festival is not merely about organising another entertainment event. It is a deliberate expression of gratitude to God, a celebration of the people of Amuwo-Odofin, and a call for greater unity among residents and communities.

Speaking on the motivation behind the festival, Olarewaju said the idea was born out of a conviction that Amuwo-Odofin needs moments that bring people together beyond political, ethnic, social and religious differences.

“I am hosting the One Amuwo Gospel Festival because I believe there is tremendous power in bringing our people together in an atmosphere of praise, thanksgiving, love and hope. Before we are politicians, professionals, business owners, artisans, youths or community leaders, we are first human beings with a shared desire for peace, prosperity and a better future.”

According to him, gospel music and worship have a unique capacity to transcend barriers and create an atmosphere where people can reconnect with God and with one another.

“Amuwo is a beautiful community with people of different backgrounds and persuasions. Our diversity should not divide us; it should strengthen us. One Amuwo means that despite our differences, we can stand together as one people with one aspiration for a better community.”

Olarewaju further explained that the festival is also an opportunity to give residents, particularly young people, a platform to express their talents and experience positive entertainment in a wholesome environment.

“Our young people deserve opportunities to showcase their talents, interact positively and experience events that inspire them. We want to create an atmosphere where music becomes a bridge, where worship becomes a source of hope, and where our community can celebrate together.”

He emphasised that the festival is not designed around political affiliation.

“This is not an APC event. This is not an event for one ethnic group, one religion or one political tendency. It is a community gathering. I want every resident of Amuwo-Odofin to feel welcome. I want Christians from different denominations, families, youths, community leaders and people from every part of our constituency to come together and celebrate the goodness of God.”

For Olarewaju, the festival also represents a personal commitment to promoting a culture of service, unity and positive community engagement.

He added:

“Leadership is not only about elections or occupying an office. Leadership is about understanding the people, identifying what brings them together and contributing positively to their lives. If we can create one evening where thousands of our people leave their homes, come together, sing, praise, laugh, make new connections and renew their hope, then we have achieved something meaningful.”

The One Amuwo Gospel Festival, therefore, is envisioned as more than a concert. It is a celebration of faith, community, culture, talent, hope and togetherness.

At a time when communities can easily become divided by politics and differences, Moses Olarewaju believes Amuwo-Odofin must demonstrate that there is still strength in unity.

“One Amuwo is not just a name. It is a vision. It is a reminder that we belong to one community and that our collective future is greater than our individual differences. Let us come together, worship together, celebrate together and believe together in a better Amuwo-Odofin.”
