Family, friends and colleagues on Thursday gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State to receive the body of late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo ahead of his burial.
The actor’s body was said to have arrived in his home town in a convoy and made a short stop at the palace of the Eze Arochukwu before been taken to his family compound.
Ekubo, who died on May 11 at age 40, was to be buried June 18 in Arochukwu, according to funeral arrangements previously released by his family.
Community residents joined Nollywood stars and other sympathisers in a procession through the village to pay tribute to the late actor.
Many of the mourners wore T-shirts with Ekubo’s face printed on them, and others held photographs of him as they paid their last respects.
His close friend, IK Ogbonna, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli and Yomi Casual were among notable personalities present.
The late actor reportedly lost his life after a private fight with kidney cancer, and is survived by his wife, parents and siblings.
The burial service will be immediately followed by a reception at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
Earlier, the service of songs for the late Ekubo was graced by leading Nigerian celebrities in the movie, music and entertainment industries on June 10, 2026.
