DEMOCRACY DAY MESSAGE FROM HON. RAUF OLAWALE AGE-SULAIMAN, PhD

As Nigerians commemorate the significance of June 12, a watershed moment in our democratic journey, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all residents of Lagos State and the good people of Amuwo Odofin Constituency II.

June 12 remains a powerful symbol of courage, sacrifice, resilience, and the collective determination of Nigerians to uphold democratic ideals. It is a day that reminds us that the freedom, peace, and stability we enjoy today were secured through the sacrifices of our heroes and heroines, including the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, whose unwavering commitment to democracy continues to inspire generations.

As we celebrate this historic day, I urge all Lagos residents to embrace the virtues of unity, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect. Our diversity remains our greatest strength, and it is only through understanding, cooperation, and collective responsibility that we can build a more prosperous and harmonious society.

Democracy thrives when citizens are united in purpose, respectful of differing opinions, and committed to the common good. Let us therefore reject divisiveness, political intolerance, and all forms of actions capable of undermining our hard-earned democratic gains.

As a proud Progressive, I remain committed to promoting good governance, quality representation, people-oriented policies, and initiatives that will improve the welfare of our communities and strengthen our democratic institutions.

On this special occasion, let us renew our commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, peace, and progress. Together, we can build a Lagos and a Nigeria where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
