PRESS STATEMENT
JUNE 12: NIGERIA NEEDS SOLUTIONS, NOT PERPETUAL CONDEMNATION — ADM. FADAIRO OLAWUNMI JAMIU, MCIA
As Nigeria commemorates the historic June 12 Democracy Day, I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the heroes who fought to secure and sustain democratic governance in our country.
June 12 remains a powerful reminder that democracy flourishes not only through electoral participation but also through responsible leadership, constructive engagement, and a shared commitment to national development.
At this critical juncture in our nation’s history, I call on opposition leaders, particularly Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, to move beyond the politics of constant condemnation and begin offering practical, implementable solutions to the challenges confronting our nation.
Democracy is strengthened when opposition leaders present viable alternatives, innovative ideas, and policy options that contribute to national progress. Merely speaking to the gallery, amplifying public frustrations, and relentlessly criticizing government efforts without providing credible solutions does not advance the cause of democracy or improve the welfare of Nigerians.
It is neither patriotic nor constructive to deliberately overlook the achievements recorded under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu while exaggerating every societal challenge for political gain. Nigerians deserve balanced and honest conversations that acknowledge both the progress made and the challenges that still require collective effort to overcome.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited complex economic and structural challenges that had accumulated over decades. Through bold reforms and courageous leadership, his administration has embarked on difficult but necessary measures aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth, economic stability, infrastructural development, and long-term prosperity.
Nation-building is a collective responsibility. It requires government, opposition parties, civil society organizations, and citizens to work together in pursuit of common national objectives. The time has come for all political actors to place Nigeria above partisan interests and contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation.
As National Convener of the Tinubu Consolidation Movement (TCM), I urge Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for democracy, national unity, and peaceful coexistence. Let us embrace dialogue over division, solutions over sensationalism, and patriotism over political expediency.
The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain.
Happy Democracy Day, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
