Activist and social commentator, Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as JusticeCrack, has alleged that officials of the Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA, abducted him while impersonating as operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.
Justice Crack made the allegation in a post on X on Tuesday, asserting he was subjected to inhumane treatment while in detention.
He said he was blindfolded and handcuffed for three days, kept in the burning sun during the day and locked in a freezing cold room at night.
He also claimed that the intervention of Nigerians who asked questions about his whereabouts stopped him from going missing without a trace.
Since the matter is still before the court, he said he was limited in what he could say publicly.
“JusticeCrack has never been cracked and it will never be cracked. I was abducted by the DIA, they came to arrest me, disguised as DSS officers.
“Only when Nigerians started talking and asking for answers, they eventually took me to the DSS. Their intention was to make me disappear, and had it not been for the intervention of Nigerians, I might have been gone forever.
“After three days of inhuman treatment, I would like to say I was blindfolded and handcuffed for three days. By day they exposed me to the hot sun; by night they locked me in a cold room.
“Since this matter is still in court, I am limited to what I can say for now. But it was the DIA that captured me and brought me to the CIC. I didn’t know about this until I was moved to the DSS, I was told.
Justice, he wrote, can never be cracked.
Chidiebere’s ordeal was reported to have started in late April 2026 when he was reported missing by his family after dropping his child off at school in Abuja.
After public outrage and accusations of enforced disappearance, the Nigerian Army confirmed that he was in military custody on 2 May.
The military said he was arrested “in connection with some videos and posts that have gone viral of frontline soldiers complaining about poor feeding and welfare conditions”, with the authorities describing the acts as bordering on subversion and incitement of military personnel.
He was later handed over to civil authorities and arraigned by the DSS before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a three-count charge bordering on cybercrime and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
Justice Crack was granted N5 million bail by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on May 18, 2026, after he was initially remanded in DSS custody.
