Oyo Abduction: Tinubu Keeps Close Watch On Rescue Operations – Presidency

The presidency has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu has not made any public statement on the kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oyo State by bandits.

On Tuesday, the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, denied the claim in a statement on his 𝕏 Account.

He assured that Tinubu has not only made a public statement but is also being regularly briefed and updated on rescue efforts for the victims.

The clarification came after a netizen, identified as Thepentane_ on 𝕏, alleged that President Tinubu has not made any statement eleven days after the Oyo incident.

Olusegun, however, refuted the claim, cautioning against blatant untruth.

I understand the very justified anger over the kidnapping of the students but please don’t denigrate to outright falsehood.

“The president has made a public statement and has been receiving briefings on rescue updates on this incident from when it started,” the presidential aide wrote.

Meanwhile, suspected gunmen who abducted students and teachers in Ahoro Esinele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have reportedly opened communication with the state government, demanding ransom.

The abductors reportedly took away 39 students and seven teachers during the attack and teacher Michael Oyedokun was said to have been killed.

Sources who spoke to Vanguard on the development said indirect negotiations were ongoing, but the amount demanded by the kidnappers was being kept under wraps.

The kidnappers had contacted the victims and demanded ransom, according to multiple sources.

One source said details were being handled discreetly.
