Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has come to AY’s defence following the controversy over the comedian’s failed Cardiff show, accusing online critics and entertainment blogs of ignoring his successful performances during his UK comedy tour.

The actress expressed her displeasure in an Instagram post after AY was unable to perform as scheduled in Cardiff on Sunday.

According to Etinosa, the comedian had been attending other venues on the tour and spreading joy among his UK fans, but those performances did not receive comparable attention from entertainment blogs.

She argued that the situation changed when the Cardiff event encountered problems, with negative reports and accusations quickly spreading across social media.

Etinosa questioned why platforms that had not highlighted AY’s successful shows were suddenly publicising the failed event.

She also criticised the tendency to draw conclusions about celebrities without first investigating the circumstances surrounding controversial incidents.

Her post reportedly attracted more than 2,400 likes, reflecting the attention generated by her intervention in the debate.

In a follow-up caption, she maintained that people rarely pay attention to positive achievements but quickly seize opportunities to criticise entertainers when things go wrong.

She also mentioned comedian Eric Gugua’s show, expressing concern about similar experiences within the comedy industry.

Etinosa’s reaction came after AY apologised publicly on Monday over the Cardiff incident.

The comedian explained that he and other performers had travelled to the city and arrived at the venue. However, according to his account, unresolved payment commitments from the organisers caused delays, and most of the audience had left by the time the situation unfolded.

The explanation offered by AY has become central to discussions about the incident, with attention turning to the arrangements made before the show and the experience of ticket holders.

Etinosa’s comments have encouraged supporters to consider the difficulties entertainers may face when event arrangements break down.

However, the controversy also highlights the importance of ensuring that organisers and performers communicate clearly with audiences when unexpected problems threaten a scheduled event.

The incident continues to generate debate about celebrity criticism, event management and the influence of social media on public opinion.
