Maverick singer Olawale Olofooro, professionally known as Brymo, has said it is high time for Nigeria to start considering Igbo presidency.
Brymo, who was backlashed during the 2023 presidential campaign for his anti-Igbo presidency remarks, has said it is time for Nigerians to “let go of the past” and embrace reconciliation.
However, he cautioned that insecurity in the South-east might affect Igbo presidency, saying that many groups in Nigeria have weaponised insecurity as a tool for political bargain.
He lauded President Bola Tinubu for preventing the South-west security outfit, Amotekun, from degenerating into a separatist group.
In a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Brymo said: “I think it is high time for Igbo presidency. It’s time for Nigeria to start thinking Igbo presidency. Let’s let go of the past and reconcile our differences and unit as a nation.
“But how are we going to get there if the South-east is also gradually falling into chaos? Whenever a group in Nigeria wants presidency, they will start militancy. That’s what’s going on. If you want the presidency, start kidnapping and insecurity.
“One of the reasons I like President Bola Tinubu is because he stopped Amotekun from taking off. He had no liking for it. What happens if the Yorubas have Amotekun on the ground, the South-east is in turmoil, Boko Haram is active, and the South-south have militants on the ground, do we still have a country?
