Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has explained that he made the personal decision to leave school at a young age because he wanted to help his father manage the family trading business.
Quadri revealed this during an interview on the African A-List Podcast, published on YouTube on October 10, 2026. He said his decision was influenced by concerns about his father’s dependence on a relative who had been working in the business for many years.
The actor explained that his late uncle’s son had been sent to learn the family trade under his father. According to him, their parents had agreed that the young man would spend 10 years learning the business before returning to his own family.

However, the arrangement extended beyond the agreed period. Quadri said the relative had spent 16 years working with his father by the time he decided to leave school.
He noted that his father had developed a close relationship with the young man during those years and had become so attached to him that he treated him almost like his own son.
The actor also said his father relied heavily on the relative to run the business because of the experience he had gained over time.
“I decided to leave school because I wanted to help my father manage the family business,” Quadri said while recounting the experience.
He explained that his decision was not the result of pressure from his father. Rather, he chose to step away from his education after recognising the difficulties confronting his family.
The revelation offers a look into Quadri’s early life and the circumstances that influenced his decision to take on family responsibilities while still young.
His story highlights the personal sacrifices that can arise when family needs become a priority and shows how the challenges of running a business shaped an important chapter in his life.
Quadri would later build a career in Nollywood, but his account reveals that his path included difficult choices long before his rise in the entertainment industry.
